So, What’s Left?

That’s why it is generation Z, there will be no generation to come after.

That may have been a little dramatic, a next generation will surely happen. But what will happen in that lifetime?

For years climate change has been in the news and in the back of peoples mind, but will it ever be at the front. Society knows what they are doing, but nothing seems to be changing.

I am no expert, I only know what I see; but I don’t see change.

Reusable straws are just the beginning, but its seems as though there is nothing after the beginning. What next? How can this be stopped? Well, it’s not up to us, so we have to make it up to us.

Past generations grew up thinking about how the future would have flying cars and hoverboards. But what does this one think?

Death… Destruction… Nothing.

For the entirety of their lives they know they are on the brink of a war. And not one fought in trenches. One that will end in mutually shared destruction.

One that will kill us all.

You are scoffing. But is it wrong? If there is a war, will countries not do anything to win? That is the power of greed, and the world is full of it.

They will use the most powerful weapon in their arsenals. Which happens to be radioactive and will end life wherever it hits…for miles.

But war is not what is on most of their minds. At least it isn’t what they think will kill them, oh no.

It’s global warming.

That thing that no matter where you go, you can’t get away from. Where droughts and tsunamis could come at any moment. Where society crumbles.

Where we don’t make it.

We know its coming. We know it will destroy us. Why aren’t we doing anything?

What is going to be left, not for our great grandchildren, but for us? For our children? Will they exist?

Why must they grow up thinking this way? Altering their life plan so they can live through this. Making sure they stay away from hobbies and go into something useful for the future.

If there is one.

This generation needs to band together and stand up to people in power, demanding change. We can reverse what we now realize as regrettable.

So, the question is not what will be left? But rather, What can we leave them?
